Launch of Sense of Collecting video masterclasses
Avatâra Ayuso Dance Company at the launch of our new project to film six curator-led masterclasses currently in production on the techniques, craftsmanship, and attribution of pre-twentieth-century painting, bronze sculpture, furniture, porcelain and armour. With contributions from contemporary artists as well as dancers, food historians and parfumiers, the masterclasses aim to engage all the senses!
Michelangelo & Sebastiano: On their collaboration and its impact in Spain
Matthias Wivel (Curator, Sixteenth-century Italian Paintings, The National Gallery and curator of Michelangelo & Sebastiano at the National Gallery, London 15 March - 25 June 2017) and Piers Baker-Bates (Visiting Research Associate in Art History, The Open University and author of the recently published Sebastiano del Piombo and the World of Spanish Rome) discuss the question of collaboration between Michelangelo and Sebastiano, looking at several of the latter's paintings which went to Spain and significantly influenced the work of Spanish painters.
Colnaghi Studies Journal is produced biannually by the Colnaghi Foundation. Its purpose is to publish texts on significant pre-twentieth-century artworks in the European tradition that have recently come to light or about which new research is underway, as well as on the history of their collection.
